" I was just looking through some late ascii packs, and I was noticing that people were laying claim to a "style" and, using their "style" as a cover up to introduce stuff that was not of a very high caliber. " - tum
What do you guys think about this. ie. People using 'bizzare' styles and funky shit in their ascii to really cover up laziness and just plain old lack of talent?
Sure, I don't think tum was refering to everyone in the ascii scene in his article, but rather to those who say "100% original" just to get out of being seen as a no-hoper.
In the end though, no matter what 'style' one uses, poorly shaped ascii is still pretty obvious.

if you can come up with a style that will make people think that your stuff is good, well... that IS talent.

Good point.. I think the article in question though was more people claiming they have talent when in fact they using others styles to make their own work seem more important.

i think it's fairly easy to tell whether somebody is talented or not. you'd have to see more than 1 ansi by them to come to a conclusion, but... in most cases it's obvious.

Hey man, this is an ascii thread.. You'd have to see more than 1 ASCII by them to come to a conclusion :)

except that ansi depends on ascii but ascii doesn't need the ansi shit. :>
